About this episode
She stepped off the evening bus at Marshalls Heath and vanished within minutes. Thirty two days later, a frozen body was found in woodland near Whitwell, Hertfordshire.Anne Noblett was seventeen when she disappeared on 30 December 1957 after returning from a dance class in Harpenden. She was last seen walking along a dark country lane near the Cherry Trees bus stop, only a short distance from her family home. A local worker passed her on the road. Moments later, a car was reported idling on the same stretch of lane.More than a month later, Anne’s body was discovered carefully placed in Rose Grove Woods. Medical findings suggested she had been kept in artificial cold storage before being left there. The scene showed no sign of theft, and the careful positioning of her body raised questions that investigators were never able to answer.Despite one of the largest searches of its time, no one was charged.
