About this episode
What a CreepSeason 27, Episode 7The Disappointment of Gen-X MenBorn between 1965 and 1980, Gen X is often referred to as the “forgotten generation.” They were raised on MTV, punk rock, hiphop, the Cold War, afterschool specials, latchkey childhoods, and a healthy dose of cynicism. They gave us grunge music, independent films, mix-tape culture, and some of the best pop culture of the late 20th century. But along with all that coolness came a hefty dose of entitlement, misogyny, and resistance to change—especially when it came to gender equality.Today, we’re going to break it all down: the mix-tape mentality, toxic fandom, the fetishization of the “manic pixie dream girl,” the anti-hippie ethos, and how these dynamics played out with public figures like JD Vance,  Dave Grohl, Chris Rock, Joe Rogan, and even Kurt Cobain.Sources for this episode:Yahoo.comNew York TimesCompact MagazineWikipedia Gen XPure WowToronto Star Jian GhomeshiDaily Beast“Nice Guys and Wife Guys” “Toxic Fandom”“Pick-Me Girls & Cool Girls”Our noncreep is Seuk Kim, a pilot who flew rescue dogs all over the country.
