A Longest Night service, often referred to as a Blue Christmas service, typically occurs onDecember 21, the longest night of the year (the winter solstice). It is traditionally acontemplative worship service designed to honor grief and provide comfort during theholiday season. Whether the worshipper has experienced loss of a loved one, loss of a way oflife, or is there to support others, the service recognizes the grief experienced and celebratesthe hope and light of Christ.
