What does it mean to "look and live"? Today in Numbers, we encounter the story of the Bronze Serpent—a remedy for judgment that Jesus later uses to explain His own mission. We also witness Israel’s military victories over Sihon and Og, and the introduction of Balaam. In the Gospel of Luke, Jesus spends a night in prayer before choosing His twelve apostles and then delivers a challenging message on what it looks like to live as a citizen of the Kingdom of God.Today’s Scripture:📖 Numbers 21:4–22:20 – The people grumble again and are bitten by fiery serpents, leading Moses to lift up the Bronze Serpent as a means of healing. Israel then secures major victories in the Transjordan before King Balak of Moab sends for the mysterious prophet Balaam.📖 Luke 6:12–36 – After choosing the Twelve, Jesus preaches the "Sermon on the Plain."
