Since the late months of 2025 until mid-February of 2026, several hospitals and clinics have ended their programs they call "gender-affirming care" for minors. (I refer to them as chemical castrations and surgical mutilations.) A definitive number is difficult to verify, as many have done so quietly, so the news is trickling out slowly. Some of the facilities began closing shop after the Trump administration threatened to withhold Medicare and Medicaid funding if they continued, but the pace of closings accelerated when Rowan Varian won a landmark $2 million+ medical malpractice lawsuit in early 2026. This has angered many on the political left and has even led a San Diego Superior Court judge to order Rady's Children's Health to cancel its plan to end the practice, at least temporarily, in the name of "the children."
