LSU’s slump deepened Wednesday night in Lafayette.
The Tigers were outplayed from start to finish in a 7-2 loss to Louisiana as defensive miscues and a quiet offense continued to plague Jay Johnson’s club. LSU committed three more errors—bringing the total to seven over the last two games—and struck out 11 times while failing to deliver a hit with runners in scoring position.
Trent Caraway provided the lone big swing with a two-run homer, while Derek Curiel (3-for-3, BB) and Jake Brown (2-for-4) were among the few Tigers consistently finding the barrel. But LSU couldn’t generate enough hard contact across the lineup and never mounted a serious rally after the Cajuns answered Caraway’s blast with another crooked number.
Meanwhile, Louisiana executed cleanly with small ball, timely hitting and aggressive baserunning, going 7-for-15 with runners on base.
