About this episode
Sunday shutouts matter — especially when they cap a perfect weekend.
LSU baseball closed out the Jax College Classic in dominant fashion, blanking UCF behind a breakout performance from sophomore right-hander William Schmidt. The righty attacked the strike zone, leaned heavily on his devastating breaking ball and pitched out of multiple jams to preserve five scoreless innings in what could be a massive early-season building block for the Tigers’ pitching staff.
Offensively, LSU continued to look like one of the most complete lineups in the country. Cade Arrambide crushed a two-run homer into the Jacksonville wind, Derek Curiel and Jake Brown each drove in three runs, and the Tigers once again excelled in situational hitting — going perfect bringing runners home from third with less than two outs.
We break down Schmidt’s emergence, what it means for Jay Johnson’s rotation moving forward, why LSU’s offense continues to pressure opponents every inning, and how the Tigers look heading into the final stretch before SEC play begins.
Plus, a quick look ahead to Tuesday’s matchup at Alex Box Stadium against McNeese.
