About this episode
Sometimes your best player decides he's going to win the game early.
That was Luka Don?i? on Friday against Indiana. With the Lakers short LeBron James, Deandre Ayton and Maxi Kleber, Luka was in control from the jump, helping the Lakers get out to an early lead (despite some inconsistencies in the team's play) that they never gave up. For good measure, Don?i? added nine boards and three steals. Austin Reaves was ice cold early, but rallied to finish with 19/5. Rui Hachimura, Marcus Smart and Luke Kennard all finished in double figures as well.
Was it an inspiring victory? It was not. But it was a palate cleanser for the Lakers after a disappointing loss Thursday in Denver.
Now the Lakers start a really tough stretch of games, beginning Sunday against the Knicks.
