The Carolina Hurricanes are off for the next couple of days, so let's talk about individual awards. For the 2025-26 season, which Hurricanes players or coaches have the opportunity to bring home personal hardware? On the Thursday Edition of Locked On Hurricanes, Zach begins the show by sharing his thoughts on why Jordan Staal is making the case to win the Frank J. Selke Trophy. Outside of him being a forward who shows great skill defensively, he has done it on both sides of the ice for the Hurricanes in the 2025-26 season. Not only has he been tasked to shut down the best players in the NHL, but he is on pace to have over 20 goals in a season for the first time in a decade. Plus, he is considered one of the toughest customers at the faceoff dot. Secondly, Zach shares why he thinks Rod Brind'Amour could be a Jack Adams Finalist. Even with the Buffalo Sabres having a strong season to erase a 14-year playoff drought, Brind'Amour has the Hurricanes in first place in the Eastern Conference, even with having most of his defense hurt all season. While managing that, the Hurricanes are en route to their eighth straight playoffs and a division title, all while dealing with injuries most of the season. Finally, Zach concludes the show by sharing why Jaccob Slavin could be someone who could win the King Clancy Award.
