About this episode
In this episode, I’m sitting down for a real-life Q1 update, because the first few months of this year did not go how I expected, but looking back now, I can see how everything kind of unfolded the way it was supposed to.
January was really quiet for my podcast production business, and for the first time in a long time, I started seriously thinking about working outside the house again after being self-employed for 13–14 years. I applied for a job I really wanted and didn’t get it, which was disappointing at the time… but as you’ll hear in this episode, that ended up redirecting me in a way I couldn’t have planned.
February brought a bit of a health scare when I found a lump and had to go through a mammogram, ultrasound, and biopsy. Thankfully everything came back benign after they drained fluid, but that whole experience definitely makes you pause and think about life a little differently.
Around that same time, I also took about a 40-day break from scrolling and social media apps, and honestly, that might have been one of the most impactful things I did this year. It really clarified for me how much I enjoy the physical world — my town, my routines, my family, real conversations — and how I don’t want to live my life primarily online.
Then in March, through a friend connection, I ended up interviewing for a job, got an offer, and started in late March. I’m still working with my three long-term podcast clients, but this new chapter has been really grounding and different in a good way.
In this episode I also talk about:
Some thoughts on the online world and how much of it feels fake and pay-to-play right now
Purpose beyond just work and career
My concerns with influencers pushing medications and peptides
How the fitness industry constantly rebrands the same ideas
Why I believe balanced movement and living in sync with your own season matters more than following trends
This episode is a little life update, a little rant, a little reflection and as always, thanks for being here and listening.
