He was introduced during John Byrne’s post-Crisis Superman run, and he worked with Lex there in the comics too. Coincidentally, he was introduced in the same comic book issue as Amanda McCoy, who is another associate of Lex’s who also recently made her live-action debut (during the final season of Superman & Lois).James Gunn has lamented having locked himself into using Adam Warlock in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 after setting him up in a credits scene in Vol. 2 and is therefore trying to move away from using credits scenes to set the stage for future projects.
