In Good Fortune, Ansari stars as Arj, a down-on-his-luck gig worker barely making ends meet in LA. When Arj meets Jeff (Seth Rogen), a millionaire venture capitalist with an easy life, things briefly start to look up as he becomes Jeff's permanent assistant... only to take a turn when Jeff lets him go after a little over a week. In his lowest moment, Arj is visited by the angel Gabriel (Keanu Reeves), who offers him the opportunity to live a few days in Jeff's shoes to see that the life of a rich man in LA isn't all it's cracked up to be.
Thing is, life as a rich man in LA turns out to be all it's cracked up to be.
Good Fortune is a type of comedy that's increasingly rare in the modern cinematic landscape. But is that a good thing, a breath of fresh air perhaps, or something we're happy to be rid of?
