About this episode
Feliks Banel's guest on this BONUS EPISODE of CASCADE OF HISTORY is Mike Shirts, longtime – and recently retired - Chief Operating Officer of Rosauers Supermarkets, the Spokane-based regional grocery store chain. Shirts worked for the company for more than 50 years, starting out bagging groceries as a teenager in 1974. In this conversation, we go deep on the history of the chain, which traces its roots to a single location in Spokane in the 1930s and now operates stores in four states. We cover the post-World War II evolution and ownership changes in the late 20th century, as well as the continued commitment to doing business in ways that might still be called “old school.” Rosauers History: https://www.rosauers.com/why-rosauers/history CASCADE OF HISTORY is broadcast LIVE most Sunday nights at 8pm Pacific Time via flagship station SPACE 101.1 FM in Seattle and gallantly streams everywhere via www.space101fm.org.
